Legal Scopers & Editors
Scopers listen to an audio file while following along with a court reporter’s unedited transcript, making appropriate changes to misheard words, punctuation, homophones, speaker names, style and format.
Proofers read the scoped transcript to ensure that it is accurate and consistent with respect to format and house style.
Veritext only works with professionals who meet the following requirements:
- A minimum time commitment of 30 hours a week.
- An excellent grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Relevant background experience in litigation such as litigation assistant or paralegal is preferred.
- English degree, extensive editing experience or successful completion of an editing program such as that offered by Internet Scoping School or Proofread Anywhere.
Contractors interested in legal editing work with Veritext will be required to purchase industry-specific software at a cost of approximately $2,000 CAD (leasing options are available).
